My name is Mike Beauregard and I have been in Law Enforcement for 20 years with the past 15 years in vehicle theft. In 2004, I started a Sportbike theft investigation and tried to find someone who knew anything about these types of motorcycles. I know several people who were very knowledgeable with Harley Davidson motorcycles but could not find anyone with the interest or knowledge of Sportbikes. Since then I have been concentrating my efforts on Sportbike theft, the identification of these motorcycles and the methods used to dispose of the parts.
Because of all the research I had done and the lack of information out there on these bikes, I decided to put together a Sport Bike Identification and Investigation class. The class covers how to identify the big four sportbikes, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki from year 2000 and newer. I have also put together a Sportbike Identification class for the Patrol officer since they have the most contact with these motorcycles. Since putting the class together, I have taught Officers in Northern and Southern California with very good results.
The reason I put this site together is so that others in Law Enforcement can find out information about sportbikes, share their information about trends in their area and assist other Law Enforcement Officers with cases and strategies to help reduce Sportbike thefts.
